Exposure to the arts is an essential part of a well-rounded education. The arts provide a means of expression that goes beyond ordinary speaking and writing. The actual practice of creating art can engage the imagination, foster flexible ways of thinking, develop disciplined effort, and build self-confidence.

Elementary Stage Band Success!!
Laura Doyle, Band Director for our Elementary Band program, is to be congratulated on her wonderful work with our students in grades 4-6 this year. She sent the following report on their very successful excursion this past Friday.
The Triton District Stage Band, comprised of a select group of talented instrumental students from NES, SES, and PGS, went to the Mass Bay Music Festival on Friday, May 10 (no elementary group from Triton has attended a festival or competition in quite some time!). At this festival, the students performed on stage then were engaged in an on stage clinic then masterclasses on their instrument. Each group that is involved in the festival is adjudicated by a panel of judges and are given a score of 0-25 in four performance categories. The Triton District Stage Band received a final overall score of 89 out of 100 giving us a Festival Rating of "Excellent"!!! This rating has been given to only a couple of elementary bands in the history of this festival. Not only was their performance excellent, but their behavior and willingness to participate in the clinics/masterclasses was excellent as well. After the festival, we went to the New England Aquarium and had a blast looking at all of the tanks and watching an IMAX movie!! I am amazed at the progress of this group over the course of this year and I am thrilled to attend the festival next year.
This event would have not been possible without the support of the whole Triton staff. Thank you very much for giving these students this opportunity. I am excited to go back next year!
Missed our performance?? Don't fret! We have three more coming up! The Stage Band will be performing at the Pine Grove School Spring Concert on Thursday, May 23rd at the PGS All Purpose room at 7:00 PM. We will also perform at the Newbury Elementary School Spring Concert on Tuesday, May 28th in they gym at 7:00 PM. Our final performance of the year will be at the Salisbury Elementary School Spring Concert on Wednesday May 29th in the "Cafetorium" at 5:00 PM. I hope to see you there!
